Does eBay Accept Crypto Payments? How to Use Bitcoin + More on eBay

Originally launched in 1995 as a website for buying and selling PEZ dispensers, eBay is a true eCommerce pioneer, and has become a name synonymous with online shopping. Tens of millions of users from around the world have used eBay over the years to bid on everything from collectibles to cars. In today’s era of crypto-commerce, you might be wondering if eBay accepts Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

Does eBay accept crypto payments?

The short answer is no, but the door is very much open for the possibility down the road. In a March 2022 interview with The Street, eBay CEO Jamie Ianonne strongly indicated the online auction giant doesn’t currently accept crypto payments, but says the platform is continually evaluating new forms of payments to accept.

How to use your crypto on eBay

Although users can't make direct crypto payments for winning auctions on eBay just yet, BitPay Bill Pay offers a seamless workaround. Charge your eBay purchases to a rewards credit card to earn cash back, points, or miles, then pay off the balance with crypto straight from your wallet.

  1. Get the BitPay app and open Bill Pay.

  2. Add the credit card you used at eBay's checkout.

  3. Choose how much of the balance to pay and settle up with the crypto of your choice.

Bill Pay lets you put your crypto to work on everyday spending without giving up the perks of your favorite credit card. To get started, first download the BitPay app from your preferred app store. Next, open Bill Pay and add the credit card you want to pay down. From there, pick your payment amount and the cryptocurrency you'd like to use.

The setup takes only minutes and works with the cards already in your wallet. Once your payment is confirmed, BitPay converts the crypto and routes funds directly to your card issuer, so your balance drops while your crypto handles the bill.

The only crypto app and card for spenders.

There's no easier way to put your crypto holdings toward everyday spending than with BitPay Bill Pay. It offers a wide range of practical benefits, from earning rewards on every charge and keeping 0% intro financing offers intact, to choosing from 100+ supported cryptocurrencies and funding payments through a BitPay Wallet or practically any other crypto wallet you already use.

With Bill Pay, you can use the top cryptocurrencies to settle credit card charges from eBay and beyond: Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB), Litecoin (LTC), XRP (XRP), ApeCoin (APE), Dai (DAI), Binance USD (BUSD), USDC, Tether (USDT), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Pax Dollar (USDP), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Euro Coin (EUROC), and many more.

Other places you can pay with crypto

BitPay has partnered with hundreds of merchants and service providers to help them accept cryptocurrency payments, so it’s never been easier to pay with crypto holdings at your favorite retailer.
